Ari can’t help feeling lost and alone. With teal eyes and freakish silver hair that can’t be changed or destroyed, Ari has always stood out. And after growing up in foster care, she longs for some understanding of where she came from and who she is.Her search for answers uncovers just one message from her long dead mother: Run. Ari can sense that someone, or something, is getting closer than they should. But it’s impossible to protect herself when she doesn’t know what she’s running from or why she is being pursued. She knows only one thing: she must return to her birthplace of New 2, the lush rebuilt city of New Orleans. Upon arriving, she discovers that New 2 is very…different. Here, Ari is seemingly normal. But every creature she encounters, no matter how deadly or horrifying, is afraid of her.
Ari won’t stop until she knows why. But some truths are too haunting, too terrifying, to ever be revealed. – Goodreads
My Opinion: I have to say that I am really enjoying the Greek Myth theme happening in books. I love the Greek myths especially the one that this story consists of. Kelly Keaton definitely put a very interesting story in a modern setting.
The book kept my attention the whole time and it was hard to put it down. You are always finding out something new. It kept me guessing the whole entire time who/what was trying to kill her and what she was. I didn’t figure it out until she did. That’s amazing. What I didn’t really like about it is how trusting Ari was and how quickly she started calling the house in New 2 home. That was surprising and unrealistic.
My favorite character had to Sebastian though. He was just someone that had the power to do something and he new how to control it. Another of my favorite characters is Violet. She is so cute and I understand her fascination her Ari. She is most likely some sort of reptilian shifter, because of her relationship with Pascal.
I also really enjoyed the setting. New Orleans has a lot of history and I love how it was incorporated into the novel. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series is set to come out in 2012. Can’t wait!
Overall: 4.5 out of 5
